Lubao, Pampanga – Chief Noel B. Lacadin presenting E.O. No. 120, “Strengthening Rehabilitation and Recovery Efforts in Typhoon Hit Areas Through the Creation of the Build Back Better Task Force” to DENR 3 division chiefs, PENROs, CENROs, and of course, to RED Paquito T. Moreno, Jr.
The Chief of Geosciences Division, Noel B. Lacadin, and of Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division, Lauro S. Garcia, Jr., both attended the Strategic Planning on January 5, 2021 at Hacienda Gracia Hotel and Resort, Lubao, Pampanga. The Chief Geologist gave a lecture on the Executive Order No. 120, “Strengthening Rehabilitation and Recovery Efforts in Typhoon Hit Areas through the Creation of the Build Back Better Task Force”, with the available multi-hazard maps (rain-induced/ earthquake-induced landslides, flooding, earthquakes, volcanic, and coastal hazards) of all provinces made under the MGB National Geohazard Mapping Project and the Collective Strengthening for Community Awareness on Natural Disasters (CSCAND) agencies composed of MGB, PHIVOLCS, PAGASA, & NAMRIA. The resulting Key Result Areas (KRA) of the second meeting of the Task Force on November 23, 2020 was also presented. These are KRAs 1 – Better and Resilient Infrastructures, 2- Stronger Shelter and Resilient Settlement, 3- Improved System and Essential Services, 4- Restored Sustainable Livelihood, 5- Strengthened Governance Through Broad-Based Citizen Input, and 6 – Intensified Watershed Management. These data served as inputs to the Strategic Plans and Targets of PENROs and CENROs for CY 2021.
It is to be noted that in Region 3, the province of Aurora located on the eastern seaboard was the focus of the geohazard discussions for it was heavily affected by Typhoon Ulysses.
